LRLS GUIDE TO THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE: X-9 NIGHTHAWK

Just re-blogging something fresh I saw a couple of days ago: The BME X-9 Nighthawk. If you're not into technical ish, jump straight to the photos. But if you would like some design hits and engineering in your life, by all means read on.

Done by Brano Meres Engineering and Design, The X-9 Nighthawk is an experimental frame made out of sandwich panels with aramid honeycomb as a core, covered with carbon fiber skins. 

The frame structure was created from honeycomb sandwich panels which were water-jet cut, connected and laminated over by carbon fiber.

X-9 Nighthawk with handlebars, fork and the new BME S72 saddle prototype. The handlebars with the stem were made out of carbon fiber, the carbon fork was shaped to fit the frame design.

The X-9 Nighthawk frame was completed in December 2011, while the fully assembled singlespeed bike equipped with belt drive was presented to the public at Berliner Fahrradshau in Berlin in March 2012 where attracted a lot of attention. 

X-9 Nighthawk is equipped with the infiniti3D bicycle component security system developed by Atomic22. Detail of the rear hub equipped with the infiniti3D Guard Dogs developed by Atomic22 as well.The rear brake cable is internally routed in the top tube.

I don't take pictures well. If you do see good photos on the site it was probably shot by accident or was taken by Cess. I enjoy photography though, I got tons of respect for people who DO REAL GOOD WORK - people who capture nothing but good light. Psshh... Nowadays, dudes sling their DSLRs pimped out with the hugest lens available and dare call themselves photogs. SMH.

Anyway, last night I was on the net browsing and I stumbled upon these. I'm a big fan of Terry Richardson. And his latest session with Rihanna is my new favorite. I'm not heavy on Rihanna, and truth be told I don't get why people say she's a 10... Till this popped up. Now I get it.

PUMA X UNDFTD CLYDE "SNAKESKIN" EVENT @ HIDEOUT

HideOut hosted Puma X UNDFTD's Clyde "Snakeskin Pack" Release Party last Saturday. Right around 5 in afternoon, collectors, industry people, tastemakers and various media correspondents gathered together to appreciate the fine collection. The event was just like the shoe it celebrated; understated and intimately set, but tastefully executed. I had a blast!

Sidebar: As an architect, I've always enjoyed HideOut's interiors. Definitely one of the better designed stores in Greenbelt 5. But as a sports fiend - more importantly a Walt Frazier fan - my mind went crazy when I saw Puma's archive photos of Clyde mounted on the store's well-designed shelves. It was a real treat! Good job on that Puma! Anyway, it was a nice evening to catch up with old friends as well as to meet new ones. Shouts to Martin, Mickie, Mikey, fellow La Sallian Jojo and his lovely fiancée (congrats you two!). Shouts to Edison for having us in his amazing shop. Also, shouts to Paolo for doing a good job of keeping everyone entertained, and for being the resident barkeep!

I was also fortunate enough to be given a quick peek at what Puma has in store for all you formstripe heads. I can't share too much right now, but better get ready for the heavy payload Puma is set to drop in the coming months! Now is a good time to get excited! Trust me, this will be dope. Thanks to Ian for that quick tour of the future, by the way!

If you missed out on the evening's dopeness, too bad. It was a great event! But hey, you never can tell when the big cat might decide to pounce again! So keep it here. I'll keep you posted.
