#AIRMAX BY MATT STEVENS

 photo BANNER_zps162ea4b5.jpg
For more than 25 years the Air Max family has remained a flawless fusion of sport and visible technology. With roots firmly planted in the soil of sport innovation, Air Max grew to become a cultural phenomenon, making its presence felt in music, art, and most importantly, on the feet of those seeking comfort and a vehicle for self-expression.

Last year, illustrator and designer Matt Stevens created the collectible book MAX100, a compendium of 100 visual interpretations of the Nike Air Max 1 — or, as he calls it, “the greatest sneaker of all time.” The book's visuals range from computer-generated images to photographs of physical objects.

Coinciding with the release of the Nike Air Max Engineered Mesh series, Nike further celebrates the reinvention of Air Max by commissioning Stevens to expand on his tribute to the famed sneakers in a project aptly titled #AIRMAX. Creating additional images of the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95, and Air Max 97, Stevens sheds new light on the heritage of these sport classics. Along with Stevens’s personal reinterpretations, some images will align under the themes of design inspiration, color, cultural significance and reinvention.

HOW THE AIR PACK SAVED NIKE | AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY

 photo BANNER_zps8631792a.jpg
I always say that shoes are my favorite way of curating history. From a certain decade's identity, to the technological wonders of an era, down to the bare sentimentality of a moment - for me, shoes are the best medium to immortalize time.

In our first infotainment exercise, Locker Room Legends will narrate the story of Nike's fabled "Air Pack", and how it saved the company from impending bankruptcy. I could have done this the old-fashioned way - a long-ass post filled with text and no photos... But I'm sure you wouldn't read that. Heck I wouldn't read that myself. So I made a nice infographic/timeline based on Brett Golliff's interview with Tinker Hatfield.

Check HOW THE AIR PACK SAVED NIKE after the jump. Scroll down and give it time to load.

TITAN NIKE LEBRON X "CORK" RELEASE EVENT RECAP

 photo BANNER_zps98969556.jpg
When our big brothers Dennis, Raoul and Levon left us with the responsibility of running the Cork release, this might've crossed their minds...

Fortunately for them, we're too lame to pull that off.

So yes, as I was saying, a couple of Saturdays ago Miguel, Jeremy, Sudan, Paul and I lead the release of NSW's breakthrough product, the Nike LeBron X "Cork".

Through a "By Invitation Only" event, select Elite Titan Players Club members, celebrities, ballplayers, influencers, and media guests were ushered into the Titan Flagship Store in TwoParkade for an afternoon of wine, good company and merriment. Oh, and yes... Shoes.

It was an intimate gathering of friends and LBJ fans. It's safe to say that everyone had a great time. Some more than others (i.e. the folks that brought home the Corks)

Right after that, we decided to let the Barkleyposites loose via lottery. That went quick as well, not surprising for an ill shoe. It's our little token of thanks to the GREATEST CUSTOMERS IN THE GAME for the loyalty and love.

So there... Won't keep you guys waiting anymore! Check the photos below.

NIKE LEBRON X EXT "CORK" DETAILED PHOTOS

 photo BANNER_zpsc89b69f8.jpg
Here they are - the shoe that everyone is waiting for. A month after it surfaced on local sneaker sites and on @Titan_22's Instagram, it's finally here: The Nike LeBron X EXT "Cork".

This is a shoe that even the most brutal of LBJ critics would want. Heck, I want one... And I don't even like LeBron! (That sounds like something a hypebeast would say, though! LOL) But truthfully, I want a pair because I'm a sucker for ground-breaking sneaker tech and new material applications.

The thin veneer of cork on this is unbelievable! I don't even know how to describe it: it's flat and smooth, but has texture... Ok, that does not make sense, but that's how it is. I've seen these in motion, and the shoe does not crease. The kitchen did it again.

I would like to think that the whole Nike NSW/EXT campaign rides on this flagship shoe. The leather is excellent, the waxed laces are top-notch, the construction is immaculate... It's damn near perfect.

Anyway, I took a bunch of detailed photos for your appreciation.

Titan TwoParkade - the only door that will release these - will have a special "By Invitation Only" event tomorrow. You might want to check your inboxes for an invite.

INTRODUCING: THE NIKE LEBRON X 'CORK'

Photobucket

Last year has got to be one of the most significant in LeBron James career. 2012, we saw him dominate in London - capturing gold in the process. We saw him trample his way through the season, through the Playoffs... All the way to the Finals. And as most of you good people know, that's when he got his first chip.

The year 2012, to put it simply, was a good year to pop bottles for the NBA's golden goose! Champagne for champs. He has earned it. He deserves to enjoy it (Chris Bosh enjoyed it waaay too much in my opinion, LOL!)

Nike Sportswear (yep, you read that right...) recognizes LeBron's achievement. And so to commemorate his amazing year, NSW unveils the Nike LeBron X 'Cork'.

TITAN X NIKE AIR FORCE 1 XXX "GOLD" RELEASE RECAP

Photobucket
The great thing about mid-week releases is you get to have a little spirit boost to get you thru the week.

Last Wednesday, September 12, Titan dropped the much coveted Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme I/O TZ 30th Anniversary - Pearl Collection "Gold" (I'll give you a second to catch your breath...)

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 XXX "GOLD" AVAILABLE AT TITAN

A couple of weeks ago we featured the Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme I/O TZ 30TH Anniversary 'Pearl Collection'. The story was published a couple of days before the supposed release date. It was very hard for an uptown-head such as myself not to be excited - as you can see, this shoe is very hard to hate.

But when the August 31st release date came and went, Air Force 1 enthusiasts just had to accept their eBay-bound fate.

Till today.

Although our countrymen went home empty-handed in the recently concluded Summer Olympiad in London, shoe enthusiasts' hearts were consoled by the amount of olympic footwear gold that has dropped locally in the past month or so.

The 30-year old Bruce Kilgore masterpiece gets reincarnated again! Always a welcome surprise to Uptownheads such as myself.

The great folks behind Nike and NSW updated the classic silhouette with treatment so luxe, it demands Fort Knox level security.

NIKE JAPAN INNOVATION HUNT

Photobucket
It's pretty obvious that Nike has been leading the pack in terms of innovative design and performance footwear engineering, but The Swoosh has been owning the marketing front as well. From early slogans  that are still memorable today, to the most recent #FINDGREATNESS run - their most inspiring campaign to date - Nike has been changing the game on and off the kitchen.

Take this for example: Nike Japan's INNOVATION HUNT celebrates the brand's Lunarlon and Flyknit success through, well, a scavenger hunt. Items are scattered in Tokyo's Harajuku district and it is up to the people find them. The items to be scavenged include a fixed gear bike, dumbbell, traffic cone, skateboard and a BE@RBRICK toy by Medicom.

Aside from INNOVATION, PERFORMANCE, MARKETING and BRANDING, I guess Nike can put FUN up there in their bullet points for success. If you are in the area or about to hit Tokyo, you might want to check it out here.

#SWOOSHLOVE, vol. "NIKE TEAM USA X SUMMER LOOKBOOK"

Photobucket
Got a package from Nike Philippines (@NikePH) yesterday, and it was their MMXII Team USA X Summer Look Book. A highly collectible bundle of literature and photos aimed to describe, dissect and capture the aspiration of a nation, and of a brand, for olympic glory.

This collection of notes and ideas behind Nike's most exciting summer to date is bound by an extremely sexy hardcover finished with touches of gold foil, with some of its pages lined with 3M to literally reflect the technology of the materials.

The inspiration and concept behind each article and footwear are well documented, described in a manner that only Nike's genius can deliver.

Shouts to the good folks at Ogilvy... And of course, to Nike Philippines. Thank you.

TITAN X NIKE AIR YEEZY 2 RELEASE EVENT RECAP

Photobucket
Still recovering from my two-day drinking spree, I am at it again to rep The Locker Room... This time for Titan's Yeezy 2 release party! We thought we will never see these in actual... We thought we will never have the chance to score a pair... But the fam from Lightning Country did it again! For Love Of The Game.

Titan pulled out all the stops to set this private release party off for all the footwear afficionados, celebrities, ball players and personalities in the metro. Only six pairs were up for grabs. Personally, I'm just happy to see everyone and have a drink with them... If I win, then it's all gravy! I won't lie though... I wanted a pair, but I won't spend the night worrying about it when partying with friends and fam is helluva lot better than a pair of limiteds! Haha did I sound salty? It felt like The Hunger Games when they started drawing names... Only in reverse. It was all good though!

I'm proud of Titan and what it did for us sneaker enthusiasts. Technically, The Yeezy 2s are not ball shoes, so Titan had no business carrying it... But they did. They made sure the P.I. got its share of the Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy! So props to the brothers Jeff, Dennis, Uli, Rely, and Levon... Salute! Nothing but love for you, homies.

Next, shouts to Miss Mae for making it possible for us to party like this! Shouts to Team LMS for blessing the event with their presence. Shouts to Jojo for being the mobile bar, to the brother Marcus Prolifik for dropping by and providing good photos! Shouts to Martin, to Monsieur Rocha ('grats buddy!), to SuperMikki, to JC, #NT very own Toots and Doc! Shouts to Pox and Ron! Shouts to Moy and Mav for taking care of my shit. Special shout out to Sarie Cruz of sariecruz.com and Dru Ubaldo of Pointbee Multimedia for the dope interview. I had a blast!

I don't care if it's a pair of 1-offs or a bunch of GR joints, let's just do this again!

Fiddy told me, "Go 'head switch the style up... And if they hate then let 'em hate, and watch the money pile up..."

This is the good life.

SOLE ACADEMY X NIKE CORTEZ 40/40 EVENT RECAP

Photobucket
One of the most iconic footwear silhouettes in history, the Nike Cortez celebrated its 40th anniversary last Wednesday at Sole Academy. The traffic and the impending rain did not stop sneaker connoisseurs and design junkies (such as myself) to witness this very special event.

You might ask, what is 40/40? No... It's not Jay-Z's club.

To celebrate the 40th year of the Cortez, Nike collaborated with 40 artists across Southeast Asia and were given the freehand to express their own renditions on the classic icon. Eight artists from the Philippines were chosen to bring their designs to life -- Eunice Alera, Laureen Uy, JP Cuison, AJ Dimarucot, Nelz Yumul, Anton Lopez, Ron Poe in collaboration with Myke Sambajon and Miggy Chavez. These eight individuals represent eight different artistic backgrounds such as music, fashion and graphic design that signify the diversity and versatility of the Cortez.

On my drive home, my mind was going overdrive on how I would do mine if ever I was part of the team. I'm sure the eight had fun! I can only imagine how cool it was for them to re-envision a classic, and for their pieces to be part of history.

I would like to take this time to thank Nike and Ogilvy for inviting Locker Room Legends to this event - Miss Mae, Miles, Jandric, Hannah, Lhen, and Pam. Big shouts also to Sole Academy for being such a dope host - Jojo, Mike, Carlo, and the Reyes brothers, Mark and Martin.

If you would like to see the eight featured pairs, drop by Sole Academy now. The pairs will be on exhibit until the 1st of July.

NIKE CORTEZ 40/40 ANNIVERSARY

Photobucket

Forty years ago, Blue Ribbon Sports started a revolution. And this Wednesday, June 13, we will come together to celebrate that moment.

Photobucket

The Cortez - the very first shoe worthy of a swoosh is turning 40 this year. And to help commemorate the famous silhouette that Bill Bowerman designed and Phil Knight developed, Nike commissioned AJ Dimarucot, JP Cuison, Miggy Chavez, Nelz Yumul, Anton Lopez, Ron Poe & Myke Sambajon, Laureen Uy and Eunice Alera to render their respective versions of this 40 year old beauty.

Photobucket

Join us celebrate this iconic shoe on Wednesday, June 13, 8:30 PM at Sole Academy Katipunan.

See you there!
