THE NIKE FLYKNIT LUNAR ONE EXPERIENCE

Photobucket

Last night, I was invited by Nike Philippines to experience the new NIKE FLYKNIT LUNAR 1. Along with veteran runners and athletic bloggers, we were the first ones to actually enjoy all the benefits that the new Flyknit model has to offer.

At around 7:30 PM, we gathered at Nike Bonifacio High Street flagship store to get familiar with the shoe. There was a quick huddle before the test run, lead by our friends from Nike Philippines, who gave us a closer and more intimate look at the shoe and its design. They also briefed us on how the technology came about and the new upgrades from the previous Flyknit silos.

The crew then went outside for the actual test run. I'm probably the noob of the group since I only started running this year, but I was able to keep up (thank goodness!) We took a couple of laps around High Street and both Parkades, roughly a little over a kilometer and a half.

I posted live updates via the LOCKERROOMLEGENDS Instagram during the run, but just in case you missed it, here's a more in-depth report of our Nike Flyknit Lunar 1 experience.

Right before the run, I got these on. The Flyknit Trainer - or what I fondly call "THE GAMECHANGERS"

Switching gears. They equipped me with the Blue/Green colorway... Just one of the many dope CWs of the line.

Took a minute to take on-feet photos with Jappy. These versions of Flyknits feel good on feet, if not better than the originals!

Armed and ready.

They look really nice... And they fit like a dream! Extremely lightweight, but the stance on this is more stable - thanks to the wider Lunarlon sole.

Good friend and Nike Philippines' very own Andro schooling us on the new Nike Flyknit Lunar 1.

It may look like I was busy blogging his lecture, but in reality I was nerding out. This is a piece of design genius! Nike has really outdone itself.

We then hit the open area for some warm up exercises. We did a couple dozen of these, plus jumping jacks, and there was virtually zero impact fatigue on my bad foot.

Like I mentioned earlier, I only started running right after Christmas. And the reason why I started so late was because I have a bad ankle (football injury way back college), and running after a while hurts.

I managed to cushion the impact by using the Air Max 2010 and 2011 for running. My ankles would usually hurt once I hit a kilometer, when I have the Air Maxes on the pain would kick in at around Kilometer 3 or 4.

Surprisingly, the run did not bother me! We ran for a total of 1.66 KM, 2 laps around High Street. I felt like I could still push it to 3 KM, 5 KM even!

The Lunarlon tech on this is a testament to Nike's cushion engineering brilliance. I ran a 6'58" kilometer, and I felt really good!

The Nike Flyknit Lunar 1, in my opinion, would suit more feet than it's previous models. The sole is wider, providing a more stable and balanced run. The Lunar bed can withstand impact almost as good as a full Air unit.

I would like to think, in the exercise, that I represent the casual runners out there who put in 5-6K every run. The Nike Flyknit Lunar 1 is perfect for people who do just that. I run every other day for 5Km minimum, and the Nike Flyknit Lunar 1 is excellent for runners who do medium distances regularly.

Heat build-up, obviously, was not an issue. The shoe is very responsive thanks to the woven Flywire on the upper that reacts as tension cables.

Not to mention they look extremely sexy on feet. I was having a hard time parting ways with my pair at this point.

I've been telling people about a certain steam exercise that the USATF did with their Flyknits in Oregon during the Olympic try-outs, wherein they steam their shoes to provide a more sock-like fit.

Nike just reinforced that idea. I called it!

This dude next to me wanted to buy the shoe that I had on. The SA had to explain that it was an old model of the Flyknit.

Congrats to Ogilvy's Jandric and Pam! Job well done! Thanks for having me, guys!

I'll leave you with more beauty shots of the shoe.

I would like to thank Nike Philippines for inviting to me test run the new Nike Flyknit Lunar 1 - they knew how much I'm in love with the technology! Thank you! Big shout outs to Andro, Jappy, Jinoboy, Ms. Marion, and the rest of our Nike fam.

Of course, I can't just leave the track without getting my own! Automatic two pairs... The third one was for good measure. Thank you so much, Nike Philippines! Thank you three times!
